Hot Rods and Classic Cars
And some of the awesome Car Shows of Summer
Every Saturday morning, just about a mile from my home, hot rods, classic cars, and muscle cars gather for possibly the biggest and best weekly car show and cruise around, Donut Derelicts. People bring their cars from miles (even counties) around to take part. You can read more about this here.
But summer brings some extra special once-a-year shows to our area. Since building and restoring Hot Rods and Classic Cars is Luke’s line of business, we go to these great shows and have a wonderful time.
We started our summer car show stops at the legendary LA Roadster Show at the Pomona Fair Grounds. At this classy event, The L.A. Roadster Club showcases the Original Hot Rod–the 1932 Deuce, along with 1928 to 1934 hot rod Roadsters, plus rows of specialty cars, coupes, sedans, woodies and wagons ranging from 1910 to 1975. This annual Father’s Day weekend event is a fundraiser to benefit worthy non-profit organizations. Here are some of the cars we saw…

Next on our list was the 75th Anniversary of the 1940 Ford, at the Forties Limited of Orange County‘s 39th Annual Forty Ford Day at La Palma Park in Anaheim. This show celebrates the 1940 Fords, but you can find other cool street rods and classics there as well…

Those are awesome! I wonder if it’s possible to make cars that look older, but with modern safety features? I’d buy one!
Absolutely that is possible! My Luke does that all the time. There is painstaking care put into hiding the new safety features and extras (radios, heat, air conditioning, etc.) to maintain the original look and design, yet add the functionality.
Those look super cool! I have never been to a car show before. How cool that Luke builds stuff like this! Hubby would have a blast if we lived close:)

I always admire all the hard work and dedication (and love) that goes into restoring those old cars. I saw an old Dodge Charger that had been restored yesterday and I was so impressed with how beautiful it was.
There really is a lot that goes into restoration, but your right, they are beautiful when done properly! I know there are times when Luke is fighting with the fitting of parts done to a 1/64″ … meticulous!

Every Saturday? That would be so amazing!!! We live in the mountains of AZ, and every September we have the “Run to the Pines” car show. I love getting my old 1955 Chevy 4×4 out of the garage and able to have fun with its friends!! 🙂 Old cars hold a dear place in my heart!! Love the pix!

The Donut Derelicts meet at the… donut shop…shocking! LOL
Some of our friends here in Emmetsburg, Iowa participate in car shows. He had his mustang redone and now takes it around Iowa to different shows. He is the 2nd owner. He got the car in high school. I think his wife needs that pink one!
That is awesome, and yes, the pink roadster would be perfect for her! 🙂

My husband and his family (and now my boys) love cars and car shows. His parent’s volunteer at a local racetrack, and my husband belongs to a VW Bus club. Those cars look awesome. Thanks for another great #HomeMattersParty
Classic cars are a lot of fun. My dad has a 1963 Plymouth Fury and there is a classic car show in our city every Friday night in the summertime. It’s always a good time. Thanks for sharing your pics and it’s great to be co-hosting another #HomeMattersParty with you!

I have never actually been to a car show, but I can imagine one like this would be very entertaining. There is something about classic restoration cars that transport me back in time and make me think of what it would have been like back in those days. My uncle restored cars and he showed me some of them once. It was neat to see all the work he put into them.

I’ve always been very interested in hot rods and classic cars. Thanks for posting pictures and information on some really sweet cars. I hope to be able to fix up my own classic one day! It’s good to know about some of these car shows that showcase these types of cars.
