Perfection in Pie
This pecan pie recipe has been in our family for generations. I remember my great-grandmother making this delectably delicious dessert when we would go back for a visit to the farm in Mississippi. It has always been a favorite of mine and it is Kirk’s all-time favorite. He wants this every year for his birthday.
So here, without any further ado…
Mississippi Pecan Pie
- 1-Cup Dark Corn Syrup (Karo Syrup)
- ¾ Cup Sugar
- 3 Eggs, slightly beaten
- 3 Tbs. Butter
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 1-Cup Pecans, coarsely broken
- 1 Pie Shell (see Non-Soggy Pie Crust)
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Line a 9-inch pie tin with the pie dough. Allow the dough to extend over the edges of the pan about an inch to pinch into a stand-up-crust rim around the pie.
- Boil Syrup and Sugar together about 2-minutes.
- Pour syrup mixture slowly over slightly beaten Eggs, stirring as you pour.
- Add Butter, Vanilla, and Pecans. Blend well.
- Turn mixture into the pie shell.
- Bake at 350° F, about 40-50 minutes.
- Cool before cutting.

One of my Hubs favorites is Pecan Pie. He would just be so pleasd if I made this. Then he would be upset because he would eat it all.
This is a super easy pie to make. Give him a special treat for Thanksgiving! 🙂 Let me know how it goes.
This sounds divine! I usually serve several pies for Thanksgiving and I need to add this to the list of ones I want to make!
This is a very simple recipe…super delicious!!! Enjoy and let me know what you think. 🙂
Oh yum!!! There’s that lovely dessert again 🙂 Thanks for the shout-out!
You are very welcome… thanks for the lovely printable! 🙂
This is so gorgeous and it’s making me hungry 🙂 I can’t wait until Thanksgiving!! Thanks for the printable ~Renee
You are welcome, Renee! Enjoy the pie and let me know what you think. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
What a great and cool looking pie, I gotta make this recipe, it looks simple enough even for me to attempt it!
This is a very simple recipe. Super easy… super delicious! 🙂
I am originally from GA and this is my kind of pecan pie. I am going to pick up some fresh shelled pecans and definitely pinning this one.
Now, I’m jealous! I haven’t had fresh-shelled pecans in eons. Let me know what you think about the pie. 🙂
I don’t know why I don’t bake more often. This looks so easy to make. I see a problem though. Other people would make me share the pie!
YES! That is definitely a problem. Hahaha. I have to give in to my son when it’s his birthday pie, but at Thanksgiving, it’s each man for himself! 🙂
I have never had a pecan pie. My grandma used to make them but I never once tried it. lol This sounds delicious. I’m pinning it 🙂
Give it a try, Missy, you’ll love it! 🙂
Pecan pie (pee-can not puh-caan, LOL) pie is one of my absolute favorites. But I’ve never made it. This one looks really really good. I may have to try it. Wonder if I could de-egg it somehow for Brady?
Don’t pee in my pie… it’s puh-caan!!! LOL This recipe is really easy and absolutely delicious. I would be that any type of egg substitute would work, but I have no idea what that is since I have not had to deal with egg allergy. Let me know what you use. 🙂
Hahahahaha! It drives my hubby nuts. I grew up in Kansas but with a New Jersey mom so I have NEVER said puh-caan, all the Kansans try to correct me but I won’t have it! I will one day look up substitutes for a pecan pie. It took me awhile to figure out the right one for a pumpkin pie.
LOL… so, it’s Kansans not Kansasans… good to know! 😀 It can be so hard figuring out substitutions. I know I’ve had some interesting results trying to work with Rory’s special diet at times. 🙂
The South Carolinians were funny about PEE-CANs too 🙂
Oh this looks so yummy! I don’t think I have ever had pecan pie before but your pictures look too delicious not to give it a try.
Try away and let me know what you think. This pie is sooooo Yummy!!! 🙂
My husband LOVES pie. It is his favorite dessert I know he would love for me to make this for him. Thanks for the recipe!
This is a great pie! And it’s so easy to make. Your hubby will love it! 🙂
This looks delicious Lorelai even though I’m not a fan of pecan pie since I’m allergic to nuts. Hubby is though and he makes them. Will have to share your recipe with him.
Let me know what hubby thinks. Sorry you can’t give it a try, but you take care of that nut allergy. Not fun.
This looks so yummy! I will have to try this for Thanksgiving!
This is a wonderful pie for Thanksgiving. Let me know what you think of it, Jill. 🙂
It looks so rich and pecan-y. I’ve never had pecan pie, if you can’t tell. The Nectarines Pie looks absolutely amazing!! I must try that next year when we have fresh ones! Do you have it on Pinterest?
Thanks, Rebekah. Yes, both pies are on Pinterest! 🙂

It looks so yummy in the middle of the night right now. Unfortunately, pecan is very rare here, but I will return here as soon as I find one. Thanks for sharing.
I bet you could make this same pie with a different type of nut. You’ll have to experiment and let me know. 🙂
I’m not much of a pie fan but this actually looks pretty yummy!
It’s delicious, Kristal, you should definitely give it a try. It’s also very simple to make. 🙂

Pinning because pecan pie is one of my absolute favorite desserts ever! My mother-in-law makes it but hers, although authentic, is always very tempermental and I keep asking for the recipe but she always forgets. Thanks for sharing on Merry Monday!
Pecan Pie is one of my favorites, and it’s what my son always wants for his birthday instead of cake. This recipe is always a winner…super easy and never fails. ENJOY! 🙂 Let me know how it turns out for you.
I love pecans and your pie looks so delicious.
Bonnie, this is THE BEST pecan pie I have ever tasted… everyone says so. It is also a very simple recipe. Give it a try and enjoy! 🙂

A must at holidays. Your recipe looks like my recipe. I sometimes bake it in a tart pan with a removable bottom just to give it a new look.
That is a cool idea, Faye. I may have to try that. this pecan pie is soooo good, always a favorite!
