Guest Room Bedding Ideas
What would you do?
We are revamping a room in Luke’s house to make it a bright and cheery guest room. The space will serve not only as a guest room, but also multipurpose as additional storage, and as a place for Rory to call her own when we are at Luke’s.
Now, as you may have read previously, Luke is an avid rose gardener with about 20 rose bushes. Gorgeous roses, I am such a lucky girl! We also live at the beach in Southern California. So, our thoughts are leaning toward taking these things into consideration for the decorating scheme.
The room has two full walls (one does have the door), and two walls that are broken–a window in one, and the closet in the other. We have been tossing around the idea of painting two walls in a whisper white, and two walls with a pale yellow, and trimming the baseboards and window sills, etc. in a Swiss coffee white.
To me, the focal point of any type of bedroom is the bed. And in this small 10 ft. x 12 ft. room, finding the right bedding is important because it will make such a large statement. We want the bedding to be pretty, fresh, and relaxing. We want it to convey a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. We want our guests to be comfortable. So, I have been gathering some bedding ideas.
Here are some of the bedding ideas I’ve found:
Click on the links below the photos for details.
Birdsong Mint Quilt Set – Yorkshire Linen

Catherine Lansfield Canterbury Quilt Set – Tesco

Natural Shells Bedspread – Bed Bath and Beyond

Amie Floral Stripe Reversible Quilt – Sears

Laura Lemon Reversible Duvet Cover Set – Tesco

There are so many lovely possibilities with these bedding ideas. I think I like the idea of a reversible bedding–something that is less feminine on one side for those male guests who come to visit. And as for the decor scheme, perhaps a beachy garden theme. What do you think?

The teal strip Quilt set is so tranquil! It would be perfect for guys are girls. So that’s what I would pick for a guest bedroom. I love the first one too, but it might be too girly.
The teal stripe really is relaxing, isn’t it? I love it too.
I love the Catherine Lansfield Canterbury Quilt Set โ Tesco, but my husband would not be too thrilled, so it definitely would need to go on a guest room bed. I love themed bedrooms, but for the rest of the house I like a general color theme that coordinates. These are lovely, remind me of visitng the beach, which is really needed right now!
It is such a pretty set. I like how it has a polka dotted reverse so you could flip it.
I agree with you about having reversible bedding for the guest room so as not to have it too feminine. I have a nice cool green color in one of my guest bedrooms. I like the second one the best because it is so bright, cheerful, pretty and welcoming. It looks cozy too! Since Luke is a rose gardener, he may like that one also. I may be wrong but it appears to be reversible with a polka dot pattern on the other side.
Have fun decorating!
It does have Polka dots on the reverse…cute, huh? Cheery, comfy, and cozy…that’s my goal.
They are all lovely, but my favorite is the natural shells because I’m such a beach lover. The Yorkshire Linen is my second favorite. Looking forward to seeing the end results. I’m sure whatever you go with will be fab.
Yorkshire Linen has some really beautiful things to choose from. We are excited about this project.
I like the Laura Lemon myself – I’m on a big gray/white/yellow kick LOL Our guest room is in blues and browns. It was one of the first priorities when we moved in our house. We moved in in the middle of April, and had house guests (8 of them) by July 2 LOL
8 house guests… Wow! I am really liking the Laura Lemon one also. I really like the striped reverse for a less feminine look at times.
This are all just lovely! The first one is probably my favorite, but very girly for a guest room, I think. The wall colors sound very nice too. How fun to reorganize a room!
Yes, I love that Birdsong Mint by Yorkshire Linen–so pretty. But I think you are right that it may be too girly. *sigh* It is a fun project to be working on! ๐
Such great ideas and I cannot seem to pic a fav. Where you live sounds like so much fun – California, the beach, oh and all the roses at Luke’s home. Lucky lady and I hope the room turns out really beautiful for Rory and the guests! I agree that bedding make a huge statement – I need new ones myself!
It is hard to pick just one bedding set! And I am actually enjoying some lovely roses, as I am working on the computer…they smell heavenly. ๐
I love the last one from Yorkshire Linen! But really I love all of them. We don’t have a guest room right now, but these are some great ideas for later on when I do. With 5 kids, we don’t have much extra room. If someone stays over, all the kids get crammed into one room right now!
5 kids would tend to fill out our house! ๐ Yorkshire Linen has some beautiful options.
So many great selections to choose from! ๐ I really like the Natural Shells Bedspread โ Bed Bath and Beyond. Also the Teal Stripe set is good too. I think both of these sets would be great for guys n gals! ๐
You are right, Karen. These are are perfect for both male and female. ๐
I love the gray and yellow duvet that is reversible. I agree with having one that is feminine on one side and masculine on the other. Thank you for sharing these ideas at Merry Monday!!
Isn’t that a pretty bed set? I love it too. ๐

These are all really beautiful, I don’t think you can go wrong. If I had to pick a personal favorite it would be Catherine Lansfield Canterbury Quilt Set โ Tesco. It just has a bright and cheery yet relaxing and inviting kind of vibe. I can’t wait to see which one you pick! Have a great night, Coco
Oh, I know… I could be so cozy in the bedding set. You would definitely wake up in a cheerful mood. ๐
I love decorating a guest room as a lot of the functionality of a room can be minimized and more focus put on design, appearance, and atmosphere. I do however agree with the reversible concept to make it open to either gender. I look forward to seeing the results. Thanks for Sharing on Merry Monday.
I think that the colors you are contemplating on painting the room sound lovely. My first choice was Canterbury. I love it! But it is quite feminine. I also like both the bird song and the Yorkshire linen and think they could be made to work for either female or male. Can’t wait to see what you choose! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
