Retro Napkin Holder
Hi everyone! I am happy to be back on Life With Lorelai today. I have been doing my favorite thing again…visiting garage sales and thrift stores.
The garage sales have really been hopping in our small town, and I even visited a flea market last weekend. It’s just too fun!
One of the things I picked up a couple of weeks ago for $2 is an old napkin dispenser. I haven’t seen one like this in a restaurant in a long time so I nabbed it. Now, it is a retro napkin holder!
It was a little rusty and sort of dirty when I picked it up.
But I cleaned it up and gave the whole thing a coat of white paint and primer.
Then, I used my Pure and Original Sea Moss chalk paint to paint the middle sections green. This is the same green paint I used on my Re-vamped TV Stand. I love this color. It isn’t exactly the same green as we have in the kitchen, but it is really close.
Then, I used a black chalk paint to paint the “band” in the middle. This just gave it a little interest. It needed something.
After the paint was completely dry, I brushed on some crème wax and let it dry. Then, I buffed the whole piece with soft cloth to let the shine come through.
Then it was time for the Silhouette Cameo. I created the word “EAT” on the Silhouette software program and cut it out of black vinyl. I cut out two so the back and the front of the napkin holder would match.
Here is the final result. What do you think?
I love the way it turned out, and it looks great in my kitchen at our little eating area.
I ordered some napkins to fit in it. They were harder to find than I thought. Amazon did not have the correct size. I needed to search for the smaller size. They ended up (with shipping) costing just over $15 for 800 of them. That is 2 packages.
I don’t imagine they will last too long because they are pretty small, and I am a definite napkin user. LOL! But, I will keep ordering them because I love the idea of having them available. I should move the napkin holder into the living room for when we snack. LOL!
I hope you like it as much as I do. I just love the way it turned out!
I hope you have a great day, and I will be back in a couple of weeks!
See you then,
Michelle

That is adorable!! I love that it would work well at an outside party, too – no worries of them blowing away. Going yard sale hunting now! 🙂
