Vampire Cupcakes Recipe
A Frightfully Good Halloween Treat
Are you throwing a party? Maybe you are going to one and need to take something to share. Or, perhaps your just enjoying a Halloween-themed family night — playing Harry Potter Trivia, watching Hocus Pocus?
I recently hosted a Halloween Girls’ Night Bunco Party for my friends and the featured dessert was these Vampire Cupcakes. The frightfully good Bites treats are super cute and super easy to make. Plus, they can even withstand daylight!
So, let’s get baking.
Vampire Cupcakes Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 Box – Cake Mix (or you can make it homemade with your favorite cake recipe)
- 1 Can – Cherry Pie Filling
- 2 Cans – White Whipped Frosting
Directions:
- Bake cupcakes according to your box directions.
- Let cupcakes cool completely.
- Puree the Cherry Pie Filling while the cupcakes are cooling.
- Once cupcakes are cooled, use a paring knife to Cut a Cone-Shaped Circle into the center top of the cupcake. To achieve the cone-shape, angle your knife toward the center of the cupcake while cutting the circle. (see slideshow above)
- Set the Cupcake Top aside for later.
- Use the knife to scrape the hole in the inside of the cupcake to make a larger space for filling, if needed.
- Spoon the pureed Cherry Pie Filling into a plastic bag that zips closed. Squeeze the puree down into one corner. Be sure to set aside some cherry filling for decorating the top of the cupcakes.
- Cut the tip off the corner of the plastic bag, and use it to pipe the cherry puree into the cupcake hole. Do not over-fill.
- Top the cherry filling with the set-aside cupcake tops.
- Place Frosting into another plastic bag, pushing it down into one corner and cutting off the tip of the bag.
- Pipe frosting on each cupcake.
- Dip a toothpick into the remaining cherry filling and stab the frosted cupcakes in two spots spaced apart like fangs.
- Drizzle some cherry puree from the toothpick fang holes to look like dripping blood.
