Monday Mournings – It’s Finally Final

ho_ho_ho_my_divorce_is_final_card - zazzle-com

After over 4-1/2 torturous years, my divorce was finalized on December 3rd! As awful as a divorce is, I am so relieved to have it over… it truly was my Christmas Wish come true. Christopher did not make the judge happy, so I got everything I asked for and then some. I was absolutely shocked at how well the final day in court went. Now, once things settle down and everything starts flowing according to the court order, Rory and I should be doing a little better.

The judge also told Christopher that he had just 2 weeks to get his crap stuff off my property, or else I could deal with it as I wish. His deadline is December 17th… and guess who still has a boatload of stuff here. I have been so busy trying to clean things out and get all of his stuff together in one place. That way he is here for the shortest amount of time possible.

It also seems that Rory was approved for SSI. This is fantastic news as well. We do not have an official approval letter yet from Social Security, but she has a payment in the bank!

Rory’s final (I hope) IEP for school was done on December 6th. Everything stayed the same, which is exactly what we wanted. Woo Hoo!

The first week of December was AWESOME! The second week found Rory picked for two solos in the school Christmas Concert. She is so excited. The concert falls on mine and Luke’s 2-year anniversary of dating.

It’s a happy, happy Christmas! I hope your December is happy too.

An Invitation To Thanksgiving

Charles Shultz

Luke and I are hosting Thanksgiving Dinner at my house this year for the first time. Is it the first time I am holding the festivities in my home? No, but it is the first time for many of Luke’s family to come to my home. Last year, Luke popped through my family’s Thanksgiving on his way to see his family. Needless to say, I am both excited and a little nervous. I just want everything to be wonderful, delicious, and fun.

After Luke talked with his family over the phone, I decided to send an email with all of the details. I wanted something special for that correspondence, so I put together a little invitation.

This lovely invitation heads my email and the details followed below. Using clipart and some really fun fonts from this PIN on my Fonts Pinterest Board, I had a great time creating. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. What do you think?

Do you send out an invitation?

Any suggestions for making this first Thanksgiving together very special?

I Am Adam!

Or So Says, Luke

from: The Orange County Register – 9/16/2013

My excitement has been growing by pumpkin vines and horns of plenty in anticipation of Autumn. The wonderful season that fills your home with warmth, bountiful harvests, and the sweet smelling aromas of pumpkin pie.

Two nights ago, as we watched TV, Luke was reading the paper. Suddenly, he turned to me and said, “You, are Adam!” I looked at him like he was crazy, “What?” He flicked the paper with his fingers and told me to read the cartoon strip, Adam by Brian Besset. As you can see from the cartoon above, I am Adam. We had a really good laugh.

Luke and I have been seeing advertisements and store shelves filled with the beautiful colors of Fall and home decoration ideas. Starbucks brought back their tremendously tasty treat, the Pumpkin Spice Latte. That is my all time favorite coffee drink. Check out more about that at my recent post, Homemade Pumpkin Spice Syrup! Last week, Luke bought me an Autumn themed floor mat for my kitchen. It features a scarecrow and of course… Pumpkins!

I love pumpkins! Everything about them speaks to my soul, from the vibrant colors to the widely varied uses. Each year I make a delicious Pasta with Pumpkin and Sausage dish as a kick-off to Fall. This year I will be sharing this recipe with you, so don’t forget to check back!

Triple Scene Pumpkin 2011
This pumpkin had three scenes with a “W” spacer between each. Carved for the Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel.

Of course, pumpkins are great in the garden and as decorations in the house, but my favorite thing about pumpkins is carving them. I have many ideas floating around in my head for carving designs for this year. Take a look at some of my previous work on my Pumpkin Carving page.

Over the next few weeks, Life With Lorelai will be offering some Pumpkin Carving Tips & Tricks. We will also be hosting a very special October Contest. Be sure to watch for more details.
