Picky Husband’s Valentine Gift Guide Ideas

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and the age-old conundrum of what to get your loved one is upon you. Don’t worry, we have a picky husband’s Valentine gift guide for you. Celebrate your man with confidence and style.

A Picky Husband’s Valentine Gift Guide

Let’s call it like it is – men are hard to shop for. They might say the same about women, but that would be completely untrue. Now, add a picky man to the equation and you’ve got Valentine’s day shopping nightmare on your hands.

Sometimes the pickiness revolves around the fact that he’s too fashion-savvy and there is nothing anyone can pick out that would be ‘to his taste’. Other times it’s the guy who has no interest in fashion, which in some ways is an even worse scenario.

Then, there are the types of husbands who have literally everything, which leaves you with zero options for innovation. Whatever kind of picky husband you have on your hands, worry not, there is still something that can be done, so stay tuned and let’s crack this perfect present mystery together.

Why buy it when you can make it?

The best gifts come from the heart, and that’s not a cheesy line. For some people, store-bought goods aren’t nearly as exciting and meaningful as the ones that were made with the loved one’s own two hands.

You don’t even have to be the craftiest person in the world to make a gift; there are amazingly simple presents that even a total DIY dummy can make quite perfectly. One such gift can be the 365 jar. All you need is a nice vintage label, a beautiful jar, and papers in different colors. On them, you can write whatever you want – reasons you love him, silly things that bug you, inside jokes, things you’ve accomplished together this year, memories you’ve shared – whatever you can think of. Tell him to read one each day and aside from being original, it will also serve as a constant reminder of the love you share and all the great, even mundane moments that make you a perfect couple.

The Connoisseur:

There is a specific breed of men who have a deep knowledge and passion for great wines. If your hubby is always dragging you to wine tastings and talking about which wines go with which types of foods, the solution is simple. Go online, browse for deals on biodynamic wine.

Take the time to remember the kinds he appreciates the most, compare quality and prices, and without almost no stress at all (or endless store browsing), you’ll have your perfect gift. Besides, it can be a great ‘addition’ to a romantic night you’ll spend at home during this festive time.

Men and Their Gadgets:

There are very few men in the world who don’t have a thing for gadgets, and this is definitely the first route you should take. Pay close attention to the things he’s been talking about, as it’s far less intrusive than snooping into their browser history.

Perhaps he’s mentioned that his favorite company is releasing a new phone. In that case, do your research and find what the phone in question is. If you have to, ask his best friend what it is – men talk about this sort of stuff.

If he’s a gamer, the Xbox One X is a gift that will make him jump for joy, even if he’s not the ‘jumping’ kind of guy. Bluetooth speakers are always a great gift if you want to make a tech-obsessed hubby happy but still remain within your budget limits. In the world of toys, you can never go wrong, you just have to know where to look.

Groom Away:

Most men don’t like to buy grooming and cosmetics products, but at the end of the day, they all want to look good. So, meet them halfway, and instead of making them shop for these kinds of supplies, pick a kit yourself and just present it to him. It can be any kind of kit really – if he has a beard, a beard oil, comb and little scissors will be highly appreciated. If you’ve noticed he hasn’t been taking care of his skin, buy him a minimalistic skincare set, and make him use it. After a bit of a struggle, soon enough he’ll be hooked.

Christmas Song Chalkboard Ornaments – Easy DIY Craft

If you love Christmas Music, you’ll love these Christmas Song Chalkboard Ornaments. Get a free printable to make your own easy DIY craft. Ornament Exchange.

Welcome to the 2017 Ornament Exchange & Blog Hop! This year, there are 47 amazing bloggers participating in the exchange. The rules of the challenge were simple: be partnered with a fellow blogger, create a handmade ornament for $15 or under, create a tutorial, and ship the ornament off to a new home!

My awesome partner for this exchange is Jeanie from Create and Babble. Like me, Jeanie has just about every style adorning her Christmas tree, and we agree, we like it that way. Jeanie made me the prettiest babbles for my tree — one is star-shaped with the word, “Believe,” and a Buffalo plaid ribbon and the other is a ball with the word, “Joy,” with a black and white gingham ribbon. It’s so funny because I just purchased some Buffalo plaid decor items for the holidays and winter (watch for it on the blog). How did she know? LOL Thanks, Jeanie, I love my ornaments and will display them proudly! Be sure to check out the link to her ornament tutorial below (it’s #26).

Christmas Song Chalkboard Ornaments

I absolutely LOVE Christmas music — all sorts, traditional, carols, secular, you name it. The music starts playing as soon as Thanksgiving dinner is over and doesn’t stop until after New Year. So, I thought I would create a set of ornaments inspired by the music I love, Christmas Song Chalkboard Ornaments.

These ornaments are super easy, especially since I have made a FREE PRINTABLE for you to use.

Supplies:

  • Mini Chalkboards – size approximately 1-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ (found at your local craft/fabric store in a package of three)
  • Double-sided Tape or Glue
  • Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue Sticks
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Printables – 6 different chalkboard styles

FREE Christmas Song Chalkboards Ornaments PRINTABLE

Directions:

  1. Print the Free Printable Christmas Song Chalkboards on a lighter weight Glossy Cardstock for best results.
  2. Hot Glue your Ribbon around the side edges of the frame.
  3. Cut the chalkboards out of the cardstock.
  4. Using the Double-sided Tape, place adhesive on the back side of the cutout chalkboard (one at a time).
  5. Adhere the cardstock chalkboard in the center of the frame.
  6. Flip the frame over and hot glue a small length of ribbon on the back side of the frame as a hanger.

These Christmas Song Chalkboard Ornaments are great for hanging on the tree. But you could also clip them to some greenery and make a banner  or wreath with them. And they would make a super fun Christmas gift.

It does not get much easier! I had so much fun making the Christmas Song Chalkboards that I  made them in several sizes. So, if you like one or all for yourself or as gifts, you can find them HERE.

I would  love to hear your ideas for using these ornaments.

Make your holiday season merry and bright with these fun and beautiful Christmas Song Chalkboards. Free Printables are easy for decor and gift ideas.

Christmas Song Chalkboards

Printable Decor or Gifts

Music holds a very dear place in my heart, in fact, music makes my heart sing. Luke and I met because I wanted to sing karaoke. And singing was the start of a beautiful relationship.

Once Thanksgiving dinner is over, the Christmas music is playing! And, it doesn’t stop until after New Year. I love to hear it, feel it, sing it, and live it. I’ll even share a little secret, I have been humming and singing Christmas songs for the past few weeks as I worked on these adorable Christmas Song Chalkboards. My daughter caught me a couple of times — chagrin and eye rolling.

Anyway, I have had a marvelous time putting these Christmas printables together for you, and I hope that you will love them as much as I do. They come in several different sizes including a printable sheet of all six designs for making ornaments or gift tags.

Gift Ideas Using 5 DIY Natural Products

Check out these handmade gift ideas using natural products to make bath and beauty gifts everyone will love. These quick and easy gifts are great last-minute ideas.

5 Natural Products That Make Great Gifts

Perfect Last-Minute Gift Ideas

Are you in the Christmas spirit yet? The holidays are here and so is the season of giving. It’s time to trim the tree, and ponder your gifts for friends and family. If you haven’t finished your list yet, have no fear. There’s still plenty of time to fill the stockings.

Instead of hitting the stores for a shopping spree, consider making gifts. Natural beauty products are great for your friends and family. Who doesn’t love handmade gifts? Here are five of the best.

  1. Shampoo

Shampoo is beauty product that is often full of chemicals and harmful ingredients. You can actually make natural shampoos for healthy hair growth. There are great shampoo recipes that contain only natural ingredients and keep hair soft and silky, especially during the holiday season.

Consider adding vitamin E oil to the recipe for extra shine. Coconut oil and green tea are also great ingredients to make any type of hair more smooth. Give your friends and family natural shampoo and healthy hair goodness this year. A good hair day is a wonderful gift!

  1. Foot Scrub

Along with the holidays come long days of being on your feet. Whether it’s long walks in the snow or cocktail parties spent in high heels, feet get extra sore this time of year. Homemade foot scrub is a fun gift for friends and family.

A peppermint foot scrub is perfect for the holiday season. The herbs and other ingredients provide great moisture and therapy for achy feet. Peppermint essential oil is also an item you’ll love to have in your home during the winter for use for other natural remedies. Your friends and family will thank you for this scrub. Plus, the peppermint scent is a holiday must.

  1. Exfoliating Scrubs

Consider making exfoliating scrubs for the people on your list. Many commercial brands contain harsh chemicals and are bad for the skin. In all exfoliating scrubs, plastic microbeads have been banned due to their harm to the environment. Ecomyx Beads are an all-natural alternative to plastic microbeads and make a great exfoliator.

Give your friends and family homemade exfoliating scrubs with all natural ingredients. The scrubs are easy to personalize based. This gift helps skin look radiant all winter long!

  1. Bath Bombs

There’s nothing quite like a hot soak in a bathtub when the weather turns cold and bitter. You can find great recipes for natural bath bombs that everyone will love this Christmas. They’re basically homemade happiness in a bubble bath.

You can add natural herbs like mint leaves or lavender seeds, and once the bath bomb dissolves, the herbs release and coat the water. The gift of bath bombs gives a reason to take time and relax. Everyone deserves some rest and relaxation during the holidays!

  1. Lotion Bars

All natural lotion bars are a great handmade gift. Silky, smooth skin remedies are a luxury during winter when the cold and wind can easily dry and crack skin. With just a few ingredients, you can make natural lotion bars for anyone. They’re an ideal, last-minute gift if you’re in a hurry and need something quick — but still want it to be homemade and amazing.

Everyone loves a handmade gift for the holidays. Natural beauty gifts are a great way to give healthy, happy gifts to your friends and family. Show you care this Christmas and give the gift of handmade love. Christmas is just around the corner, so get your craft on and start making these recipes!

S’mores & Popcorn Camping Gift – DIY

Regular contributor, Michelle James, is bringing us some summer fun with a tasty gift for every camper — S’mores and Popcorn Camping Gift.

S’mores and Popcorn Camping Gift

The perfect DIY gift for your camper!

Hi!  Camping season is in full swing.  Some friends of mine just purchased a new teardrop camper, and it is so cute.  I wanted to give them a little “camper warming” present, so I came up with a S’mores and Popcorn Camping Gift!

S’mores And Popcorn Camping Gift

This is really easy to put together.   You just need to have some scrapping supplies and the food supplies.  Easy enough!

Here is what you need:

  • Popcorn (stove-top popping pan type)
  • Marshmallows
  • Graham Crackers
  • Chocolate Bars
  • Assorted camping theme Scrapbook Paper
  • Stickers and Die Cuts
  • Scissors
  • Pen or Pencil for tracing
  • Adhesive
  • Mounting Tape
  • Twine
  • Black Powder Puff Ink
  • Paper Cutter/Trimmer
  • Cellophane Bags – 4 inches wide with a gusset
  • Stapler
  • Hole Punch
  • Newspaper
  • Tin Container

Let’s put it together:

Step 1 – lay the popcorn upside down on one of the patterned scrapbook papers.  Trace around the edge and cut out the circle.  You will need to cut inside your line by about ¼ inch to get it to fit.  We will trim to be more precise a little later.

Step 2 – Decorate the front of the round pieces using the stickers and die cuts.  I also used the black ink pad to ink the edges of all of the pieces (including the sticker and die cut pieces).  This is my personal preference.  I don’t like to see the white edges of the papers.

Step 3 – Once you have your rounds the way you like them you will attach them to the popcorn.  To do this, lift the crimped edges of the popcorn container, and tuck the round piece in place.  If it does not fit very well, just give the decorative round a little trim–trim and try…trim and try.

Step 4 – Next you will need two cello bags, the graham crackers, the chocolate bars, and the marshmallows.  Each bag will contain: Break two graham crackers in half and place them into a cello bag.  Then, place two chocolate bars in followed by two marshmallows. (Each cello bag will hold the fixings for two s’mores).

Step 5 — Using another piece of the scrapbook paper, cut two pieces to 4.25” x 6”.  Fold them in half.  They are slightly wider than the cello bag and when attached to the bag in a few minutes will create a topper.

Step 6 – Decorate the bag topper using the die cuts and stickers.

Step 7 – Try to make the bag as neat as possible and fold the top of the bag down a couple of times.  Place the topper over the top of the bag.  Staple it along the lower edges to keep everything in place.

Step 8 – Using the twine, wrap a piece a couple of times around the topper and tie a knot.  Then punch a hole in one of the die cuts and tie it onto the twine.  Trim the ends of the twine if needed.  (you can see these in the final photos)

Step 9 – Scrunch up some of the newspaper and place it in the bottom of the tin container.  Then use some more of the newspaper like you would tissue paper.  Place it on top of the scrunched pieces and let it fan out. (The newspaper will make great fire kindling).

Place the popcorn into the tin container; then, add the s’mores bags.  You can arrange them however you want.

That is all there is to it.  Now enjoy or give as a great gift!

I hope you enjoyed this fun gift idea.  Please visit my blog, and be sure to like me on Facebook and Pinterest. It is fun to connect!
