Halloween Girls’ Night Bunco Party

Easy to Host – Learn How To Play + Free Printables!

+ Halloween Decor Blog Hop

Halloween is always a fun time to host a party. This year, I got to host our monthly Bunco Party for a vamptastic Halloween Girls’ Night! It was hauntingly fun and I cannot wait to share it with you.

If you have never played Bunco, you are missing out on some serious girl-time gaming amusement. Don’t worry, you can get into the game easily enough, I have downloads and FREE printables that will arm you with everything you need. Check them out below.

Since my party was at the beginning of October, I wanted to give it a Halloween theme. My house is all spooked out with the decor, I added Halloween names to the Bunco tables, and of course, I served a frightfully tasty Halloween-themed dessert, Vampire Cupcakes.

Jeepers Creepers, let’s take a peek!

I had a ton of fun creating my Halloween Mantel Decor, and am absolutely in love with the Orange, Black, and Purple color scheme. See the post HERE. This was a perfect focal point for my Halloween Girls’ Night Bunco Party.

I set-up a super cute buffet table for some extra snacks and my delectable dessert.

These Vampire Cupcakes are easy-peasy to make and are quite a crowd pleaser — definitely a perfect Halloween-themed dessert. CLICK HERE for the RECIPE!

All of my Bunco supplies had a Halloween twist. From the goodie bags for my prizes to the table tags denoting which table was which, to the pencils. Even my prizes were renamed: Master Vampire = Most Buncos; The Headless Horseman = 1st Place; Mummy in the Middle = 2nd Place; The Cackler = Most Smileys; and The Body in the Basement = Most Losses.

Aren’t these spooky Candelabra Place Cards adorable? They were perfect for marking my tables and placed beside my cupcakes.

Ready to Play Bunco?

Bunco is a very EASY game, anyone can play it. There is no skill or strategy involved. If you can roll dice, you can play. This game is a great social mixer since you change partners and tables all night long, so you get the opportunity to chat and giggle with everyone.

Very few supplies are needed to play Bunco: dice; paper; pencil; and a bell (or something to make noise with). You will also want score sheets. And, if you are starting a Bunco Group of your own, you’ll want the Monthly Paid Schedule and the Rules, Prizes & Game Play. I have FREE PRINTABLES for these!

Downloads and Free Printables for Halloween Girls’ Night Bunco Party

Bunco Score Sheets

The score sheets come two to a page. Each player needs to have one.

Bunco – Monthly Paid Schedule

If you are starting a Bunco Group, use this to keep track of who has paid. You collect money at the end of the bunco party for the following month’s Bunco.

Bunco – Rules, Prizes & Game Play

This is loaded with information and awesome tips too. It provides all the details on how to play the game of Bunco, prize descriptions, game set-up, and more.

Bunco is a great idea for a Halloween Girls’ Night or anytime. Think about it for a church group event, big family get-together, or any event where you might play a game. You will have a BLAST!

Santa’s Delivery Game is a hilarious Christmas party relay game.

How To Play Santa’s Delivery Game

The winning team will successfully deliver the most packages.

Provide a large quantity of wrapped boxes and gift bags in various sizes with jingle bells inside for fun. No need for ribbon or bows.

Place a card table on both ends of the room. One will be the starting point where the packages will be placed. Select one person to be the hub manager. The hub manager is in charge of keeping count of the number of packages successfully delivered.

One by one, team members aka delivery drivers, will pick up as many packages as they can carry and quickly deliver them to the table at the other end of the room. Once there they will put them all down then pick them back up and deliver them back to the first table where the next member of their delivery team will then go.

Any packages dropped on the floor must remain on the floor and cannot be retrieved except by the hub manager who will return them to the starting table.

As the competition continues, the later players will need to carry more and more packages. The team to deliver the most packages successfully wins.

Christmas Gifts Your Tech-savvy Kids Will Adore

Our friend, Peter Minkoff, is back to share some great Christmas Gifts ideas for the kids on your shopping list.

Christmas Gifts Your Tech-savvy Kids Will Adore

In the era of technological developments and expansion of the Internet, kids have slightly different wishes and expectations than we had had when we were young, when it comes to Christmas gifts. It is sometimes difficult to live up to those expectations, simply because we as parents are not familiar with the newest gadgets and devices. If you are one of us – don’t worry! Here is a list of Christmas gifts your tech-savvy kids will adore.

  1. Portable Speakers

Today’s kids love listening to music wherever they go, and they will all agree that sometimes a smartphone’s speakers are not enough. This is exactly why portable speakers should jump in. They can ensure your kids terrific sounds that will last for up to 100 hours without recharging. You can even buy those for all of your kids – stacking them together will increase the volume to the max. These usually come with a travel pouch and USB charger, and there is often a light underneath them, which turns on when speakers are working.

  1. Smart Watch for Kids

Wearable technology is definitely becoming a part of the mainstream, and that is true for kids as well. Smart watches that are aimed at 5-12 year-olds include a camera, a voice recorder with funny voice effects for playback, and video recording with the possibility of editing, as well as educational games. What is great is that a USB port enables downloading all the photos and videos to a computer. These also feature small colour touch screens with different watch faces that your kids can choose from. Besides that, there are some traditional features, such as stopwatch and countdown timer.

  1. Barbie’s Colour Changing Handbag

Even though Barbie doll is famous for the iconic pink colour, this latest toy proves that not everything related to her has to be pink. This clever handbag changes its colour by using sensors on the rear and numerous LED lights. Your daughter just needs to press her new handbag against a piece of clothing she wants to match it up with, and press the button on the handbag. A few seconds later, the primarily white bag lights up and changes colour into the one that it was pressed against. This intriguing item is particularly appropriate for younger girls, simply because they will be thrilled to see how the colours change in just several seconds.

  1. Tech Doll

An interactive smart doll is a perfect choice for your tech-savvy daughter. Even though she looks like a typical doll, she can actually talk and respond to voices. She is capable of answering some general knowledge questions and communicating with your daughter, however, in a slightly robotic manner. This doll can even connect to the Internet via smartphone or Android app, and find correct answers online. Besides that, you should know that she does not allow swear words, which is very important – she responds with “That is not appropriate!”

  1. Video Games

Both teenagers and younger children love playing video games. Having that in mind, it is always a good idea to make your kids happy by purchasing the one that is age-appropriate, fun and educational at the same time. There are many great games that can be played online for free, such as Poptropica Mythology Island, but you can consider purchasing your kids an exclusive membership as a Christmas present. This will allow them to play some islands that are member-exclusive, as well as to have unlimited costumes and special powers in the game. You can be sure that they will be thrilled to get such a gift!

As you can see, picking a gift for your tech-savvy children can be quite a tricky task, especially if you are not familiar with gadgets and the latest technological improvements. However, that does not mean that you will be unable to choose something appropriate – just listen to your kids’ wishes and pay attention to their personal interests. Of course, these gifts require slightly greater amounts of money, but that’s fine. Your youngest ones will be ecstatic, and that’s what counts.

California Snowball Fights & Other Fun Stuff

Snowball Fights – California Style!

Plus Other Fun Activities – Free Printables

Living at the beach in Southern California, we don’t see much snow. In fact, I’ve seen it at home a total of twice in my lifetime. On both of those occasions, the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground. The occasional hail storm is as close to snow on the ground as we get. And let’s face it, hail would hurt! So, to have the fun of snowball fights, we have to get a little creative…

I have a couple of options for you.

The first involves PVC sprinkler pipe, a few fittings, and mini marshmallows. All you need for the second idea is Playdough. I guarantee the laughs will ensue!

California Snowball Shooters:

Every year on the last day of school before Christmas vacation, the teachers and staff would gather in the courtyard and sing Christmas carols as the students and parents arrived to school. It was always a wonderful tradition. One year, at the end of the singing, the entire staff whipped out these little beauties…

The next thing we knew, us parents and students were under attack. It was a California Snowball Fight. Mini marshmallows were flying everywhere. Kids were picking them up and throwing them back at the teachers. It was wild, it was crazy, and it was a TON of fun.

I thought about what a simple idea this California Snowball Shooter was, and decided to make some for my family. We have had so much fun with these mini marshmallow snowball fights. Unfortunately, I have no pictures of all the fun we’ve had each year with these, because I was too busy being involved in the melee.

Here’s what it takes to make your own California Snowball Shooter:

  • 3 lengths PVC tube / pipe – 1/2 inch diameter is fine
  • 1 T-fitting
  • 2 Open Couplers
  • 1 Cap
  • A Hacksaw or something to cut the pipe.
  • Mini Marshmallows

As you can see in the above picture, you can make your shooters different sizes, but the construction is the same. Cut your three pieces of PVC pipe (one for the handle, the other two for the shooter). Connect the three pieces to the T-fitting. Place the cap on the bottom of the handle, and the two open couplers one on each end of the shooter.

All that is left is to stuff a mini marshmallow into one end of the shooter and blow from the other end… let the snowball fights begin…

If you are giving these as a gift, add a little tag like this:

“California Snowball Shooter: Stuff a mini marshmallow into the tube and blow!”

Playdough Snowball Fights:

Sometimes it’s tough to be a kid in the hospital… and sometimes it’s not. If you have read my About Lorelai page, you know that Rory has been hospitalized throughout her entire life, a lot. Thank goodness for an excellent hospital, doctors, and nurses, but in this case the true heroes were her Child Life Specialists. The job of these amazing people is to help the children cope with their illness, hospitalizations, and situations. We had several Playdough Snowball Fights over the years, sometimes indoors, and others outside. Oh, my, gosh did they all have FUN! Take a look…

All you need for this game is Playdough!

Rory, Bonnie, and Stephanie rolled the Playdough into smallish balls so they would have lots of ammunition. The IV pole made a great snowball holder. We tried to clean everything up, but when I would take Rory out to the garden for a walk, we would catch a glimpse of color peeking out from somewhere. The memories made us giggle. Years later the Playdough Snowball Fights are still being talked about as one of the greatest events ever!

The best thing about BOTH of these Snowball Fights is since they do not require snow, you can have them all year round!

Other Fun Stuff:

I have gathered a collection of FREE printable Christmas activities that can be fun for the entire family. Roll the dice and draw a snowman. Find your way through a Christmas maze. Unscramble Christmas words. And have some fun with Christmas songs.
