Celebrate Dad This Father’s Day and All Summer Long

This post, Celebrate Dad This Father’s Day and All Summer Long, is sponsored by Michelob Ultra but the content and opinions expressed here are my own. The following content is intended for readers who are 21 or older. #MichelobULTRA #LiveULTRA #ULTRADAD

Michelob ULTRA helps you celebrate dad this Father’s Day and all summer long. Ice cold and refreshing, great tasting beer that allows you to balance health and happiness.

Celebrate Dad This Father’s Day

and All Summer Long

Sometimes dads are found in untraditional places. Rory’s real father has been far from a loving, trustworthy figure in her life–disappointment and heartache riddled their relationship and still does.

However, in Luke, Rory has found a father figure worthy of respect. Someone who cares about her, loves her, wants to see the best for her, and isn’t afraid to be a “parent.” She thinks of Luke as her step-dad, and this Michelob ULTRA moment is for you, Luke, because you are an ULTRADAD! Thanks for being there; you’re the best.

Michelob ULTRA helps you celebrate dad this Father's Day and all summer long. Ice cold and refreshing, great tasting beer that allows you to balance health and happiness. MSG 4 21+ #ad #MichelobULTRA #ULTRADAD #LiveULTRA #FathersDay Click To Tweet

If you’re looking to live a balanced life without compromise, you can have it all with Michelob ULTRA. Uniquely positioned at the corner of health and happiness, it offers superior taste with 95 calories and 2.6 carbs. Great news for beer drinkers who want to maintain an active lifestyle. Or maybe you just want to have some fun and laugh a little too much while hanging out with friends or family. Beat the summer heat, grab yourself a refreshing ice cold beer.

We love to BBQ all summer long (all year really, here in So Cal). Luke mans the grill and Rory and I act as Sous Chefs. One of our favorite summertime meals is barbecue chicken with Citrus, Chili, Cilantro Marinade. It is light, packed with flavor, and a perfect pairing with Michelob ULTRA. Get the printable recipe here.

We also love to work and play in our garden.

Celebrate dad this Father’s Day by spending some quality time with him and letting him know how much he means to you. Michelob ULTRA makes a great gift idea too.

Whether it’s after a bike ride, hanging out around the barbecue, or just having fun in the garden, it’s always a good time chillin’ with Michelob ULTRA!

Celebrate your ULTRADAD.

Picky Husband’s Valentine Gift Guide Ideas

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and the age-old conundrum of what to get your loved one is upon you. Don’t worry, we have a picky husband’s Valentine gift guide for you. Celebrate your man with confidence and style.

A Picky Husband’s Valentine Gift Guide

Let’s call it like it is – men are hard to shop for. They might say the same about women, but that would be completely untrue. Now, add a picky man to the equation and you’ve got Valentine’s day shopping nightmare on your hands.

Sometimes the pickiness revolves around the fact that he’s too fashion-savvy and there is nothing anyone can pick out that would be ‘to his taste’. Other times it’s the guy who has no interest in fashion, which in some ways is an even worse scenario.

Then, there are the types of husbands who have literally everything, which leaves you with zero options for innovation. Whatever kind of picky husband you have on your hands, worry not, there is still something that can be done, so stay tuned and let’s crack this perfect present mystery together.

Why buy it when you can make it?

The best gifts come from the heart, and that’s not a cheesy line. For some people, store-bought goods aren’t nearly as exciting and meaningful as the ones that were made with the loved one’s own two hands.

You don’t even have to be the craftiest person in the world to make a gift; there are amazingly simple presents that even a total DIY dummy can make quite perfectly. One such gift can be the 365 jar. All you need is a nice vintage label, a beautiful jar, and papers in different colors. On them, you can write whatever you want – reasons you love him, silly things that bug you, inside jokes, things you’ve accomplished together this year, memories you’ve shared – whatever you can think of. Tell him to read one each day and aside from being original, it will also serve as a constant reminder of the love you share and all the great, even mundane moments that make you a perfect couple.

The Connoisseur:

There is a specific breed of men who have a deep knowledge and passion for great wines. If your hubby is always dragging you to wine tastings and talking about which wines go with which types of foods, the solution is simple. Go online, browse for deals on biodynamic wine.

Take the time to remember the kinds he appreciates the most, compare quality and prices, and without almost no stress at all (or endless store browsing), you’ll have your perfect gift. Besides, it can be a great ‘addition’ to a romantic night you’ll spend at home during this festive time.

Men and Their Gadgets:

There are very few men in the world who don’t have a thing for gadgets, and this is definitely the first route you should take. Pay close attention to the things he’s been talking about, as it’s far less intrusive than snooping into their browser history.

Perhaps he’s mentioned that his favorite company is releasing a new phone. In that case, do your research and find what the phone in question is. If you have to, ask his best friend what it is – men talk about this sort of stuff.

If he’s a gamer, the Xbox One X is a gift that will make him jump for joy, even if he’s not the ‘jumping’ kind of guy. Bluetooth speakers are always a great gift if you want to make a tech-obsessed hubby happy but still remain within your budget limits. In the world of toys, you can never go wrong, you just have to know where to look.

Groom Away:

Most men don’t like to buy grooming and cosmetics products, but at the end of the day, they all want to look good. So, meet them halfway, and instead of making them shop for these kinds of supplies, pick a kit yourself and just present it to him. It can be any kind of kit really – if he has a beard, a beard oil, comb and little scissors will be highly appreciated. If you’ve noticed he hasn’t been taking care of his skin, buy him a minimalistic skincare set, and make him use it. After a bit of a struggle, soon enough he’ll be hooked.

Halloween Candy Baskets DIY Craft To BOO It Forward

This shop, Halloween Candy Baskets DIY Craft To BOO It Forward, has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, MARS Incorporated. All opinions are mine alone. #BOOItForward #CollectiveBias

BOO it forward with these DIY Halloween Candy Baskets in eight fun Halloween-themed shapes. Craft your own using the free printables.

Halloween-Themed Shaped Candy Baskets

DIY Craft To BOO It Forward with FREE Printables!

Hooray, it’s October! I love Halloween, and I am always trying to think of fun things to make it special for those around me. So, today, I am sharing this easy DIY craft that is perfect for spreading some spooky cheer! Let’s do Some Friendly Neighborhood BOO’ing.

Who to BOO

We always love to BOO the neighborhood kids, but we also plan to BOO Luke’s 86-year-old dad and his friends down at the donut shop. They have been meeting there each morning for decades.

These Halloween candy baskets are great for a classroom party, any group get-together, you name it. BOO your local fire department, police station, or hospital. BOO It Forward and get everyone in the Halloween spirit. The FREE Printables make them a snap and come in pre-colored or color-your-own options.

It’s easy to purchase the MARS® Variety bag for your BOO Kit. Just hover over the shoppable image above to click through to Walmart.com and buy it!
Now, what good would a candy basket be without some candy to fill it? My choice is the 400 piece MARS® Spider-Man Chocolate/Sugar Variety Bag! This bag is loaded with SNICKERS®, Skittles®, TWIX®, MILKY WAY®, Starburst®, and 3 MUSKETEERS® — can we all say, YUM?! You can find some cute stickers, tissue paper, bags, and cards from American Greetings too.

Let’s get crafting!

Halloween Candy Baskets

Supplies:

  • Free Printables – Download Here: Pre-Colored Shapes or Color-Your-Own Shapes
  • Cardstock
  • Glue Stick
  • Colored Pencils, Markers, Crayons, etc.
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Bone Folder (or another flat edge)
  • Paper Cutter (helpful, but optional)

Directions:

  1. Print your choice of pre-colored or color-your-own Halloween shapes.
  2. Cut out the shapes leaving a flat edge at the bottom, and an edging around the shape. These shapes will be the sides of your candy basket.

  1. Measure and mark cardstock. You will need two pieces cut for each basket — one for the basket (3-1/2 inches x 7 inches) and one for the handle (7 inches x 1 inch).
  2. Cut the cardstock for all the baskets you will be making.

  1. On the cut out Basket card stock, measure in 1/2 inch from the long edges on each side. Draw a line with a pencil, then score each pencil line with a bone folder or other flat-edge.
  2. Fold the scored long edges inward.

  1. Cut notches into the 1/2 inch folded edges to make it easier to fit the basket onto the shapes.
  2. Lay the notched basket cardstock flat and place glue on notches, both edges.
  3. Fold the notches to a right angle so the glued sides are on the outside of the basket.
  4. Attached glued notches to a pair of matching Halloween-themed shapes in a U-type shape, so there is an opening at the top. You will be able to move and adjust the notches to fit each shape as needed. Make sure that your shapes are turned the same way with the flat edge at the bottom.
  5. Let glue set.
  6. Dab glue on both ends of the handle, and attach to the top inside of the basket cardstock. Let glue set.

  1. Print a BOO Card for your basket.

BOO It Forward

Voila! You now have a spooktacular Halloween Candy Basket! Now, throw a party or BOO a friend and share your Halloween spirit.

Don’t forget you can get the Spider-Man Homecoming DVD & Blu-Ray on October 17th at Walmart.

Create your own eerie apothecary vignette to dazzle your guest for a Halloween party or trick-or-treat. We just added glow sticks to different items in the apothecary to make them glow. They are also great when you tuck them into mason jars and use them as path lights. Super simple, right?

Look at that spooky Spider Web Candelabra. Isn’t it fun? I used it as part of my Halloween Mantel Decor. I decorated the candles with spiders to make them extra creepy. Check out this DIY to make your own Spider Candles.

Oriental Trading has lots of glow options available that make a perfect food-free option for trick-or-treaters or classroom parties. We picked up the Halloween Glow Bracelets with Card and the Large Beam Flashlight Keychains. The cute and cheerful Halloween card has holes to attach the glow bracelet and the flashlights come in a variety of six different colors.

If you are looking for fun ideas for Trick-or-Treat this year, Oriental Trading has you covered for all things Halloween. The Halloween Glow, toys, games, and more are perfect for those supporting the Teal Pumpkin Project® and providing food-free options for kids with food allergies.

School Year Tips To Shine With Success

This post, School Year Tips To Shine With Success, has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #MomentsShineWithWindex #CollectiveBias

Shine with success this school year with great tips: first day of school photo ideas, organization charts, homework station ideas, and free printables.

School Year Tips To Shine With Success

Make Moments Sparkle

Can you believe it? Back-to-school is here! This is always a special and hectic time for families with school-age kids, even when they are heading off to college (Ha! Maybe more so). But, through the years I have learned a thing or two, and now I am going to share them with you.

These ideas for a successful school year are easy to implement and change up to meet your needs. Be creative! I even created a few FREE PRINTABLES that you can download. My hope is that you will find these ideas helpful and fun.

First Day of School Photo Ideas:

The first day of school means PICTURES! So, be prepared, grab your Windex® Original Glass Cleaner and make moments shine. You definitely don’t want grubby fingerprints on windows in the background.

Give these creative and easy ideas a try.

  • Use Chalk Markers to write and draw on glass or chalkboard.

I did this with Rory this year — college bound. We have pictures from every school year of the kids in front of our car or truck. It is a nice way to look back and remember what life was like at that moment in time, including our ride.

A couple of really nice things about using chalk markers on the windows — they are easy to write with and very easy to clean with Windex® products, check it out…

Clean your windows first. Windex® Original Glass Wipes work great for this.

Draw and Write on your windows to make your moments shine. Then, it is easy to clean up with the Windex® Original Glass Cleaner spray. The spray helps loosen up the dried chalk. Watch how easy…

  • Use Sidewalk Chalk and draw a large number for the grade your child is entering on the driveway. Decorate the number with style and personal flair. Then, have your child sit in the number or next to it for the photo.
  • Make a small pennant banner that your child can hold for the picture. Write or glue the words: First Day of School, 1st Grade, 2017, or whatever you want to say to create a special memory.
  • Frame a printable and have your child hold it for the picture. You can download and personalize the FREE PRINTABLE I created just for you.

Remember, be camera-ready with Windex® Original Glass Cleaner or Windex® Original Glass Wipes.

Then, take advantage of this fabulous OFFER: Buy 2 Windex® products and get $20 to shop at Shutterfly®. This is a limited time offer. Disclaimer: Offer valid 7/15/17 – 12/1/17. Visit here for terms and conditions. Notice those dates, you can buy more Windex® products and use the offer for Halloween and Thanksgiving photos too!

Get Organized for the New School Year:

Start the school year with a plan. Children do very well with a schedule, it gives them a sense of purpose and a semblance of security. If they know what to expect next, you will have an easier time getting them to accomplish it. Schedules help set your child up for success!

  • Set Schedules
  • Morning: Wake up time, eat breakfast, brush teeth, get dressed, leave for school, etc.
  • After School: Have a snack, do homework, play outside, eat dinner, quiet reading time or studying, take a bath, pack your backpack for the next day, set out your shoes and clothes for school, etc.
  • Bed Time: Have a set time your child is supposed to go to bed. Making sure your child gets enough sleep each night and is well-rested will help to ensure they have a good learning day a school.
  • Have a specified place for backpacks and other items to be placed. If you are not searching all over the house for things your morning will go much smoother. Less stress, less fighting, and arguing is better for everyone’s day.

I have created a couple Organization Charts that will help your child stay on task between getting home from school and going to bed. You can download these FREE PRINTABLES. You have a choice of two different color schemes.

Put this chart on your refrigerator and use magnets to mark the accomplishments daily.

Homework Station Ideas:

Homework stations were a big part of a successful school year for us. We had one set up in our kitchen, where the kids could sit at the table to do their work, and I could be getting dinner ready for the family. The nice thing was that I was there and available for any questions that may arise. We had a cabinet where all of our homework necessities were stored.

We also had homework supplies in the car/truck. Why not take advantage of the time while one child is sitting around waiting for the other sibling for sports practice or ballet lessons? The more you get finished early, the more free time you have at home at night as a family.

  • Set up a place in your home where your child(ren) will do homework every day.
  • Find somewhere to store all our homework supplies: notebook paper; graph paper; pencils; erasers; glue; paper clips; stapler and staples, colored pencils; crayons; markers; etc. Be sure supplies are easily accessible to your child.
  • Use a Lazy Susan or turntable to place your supplies on the table. That way your kids can just spin the supplies to reach what they need.

Supplies on the go.

  • Keep a smaller amount of the same school supplies in your vehicle. Colored pencils work better than crayons and markers as they do not melt.
  • Have chairs for your kids, so they have a place to sit.
  • A lap desk or board helps to give stability for writing.

Whatever you are doing, however you celebrate and organize for the new school year, remember to get things clean and make your moments sparkle with Windex® products, America’s #1 glass cleaner — famous for streak-free shine!* For more information and ideas for use follow Windex® on Facebook and Twitter.

And do make use of the Shutterfly® offer, generations of your family will thank you.

Enjoy life, live it to the fullest, but that leaves your vehicle vulnerable to messes. Protect cargo area with an INNX waterproof liner. #AD #CargoLiner

Protect Cargo Area with INNX

Keep Your Vehicle Clean from Everyday Life Messes

Life is full of potential messes. Grocery shopping, beach trips, sports gear, gardening, kids, and pets can all take a toll on your vehicle. Well, I have a solution for you — the INNX SUV Cargo Liner Cover.

This quality product comes with a lifetime guarantee. It is waterproof, easy to install and maintain. Simply wipe up spills with a damp cloth or sponge. The cargo liner cover is machine washable on a gentle cycle in cold water, and let it air dry.

Installation is a snap with adjustable straps and velcro. The straps hook around the headrests on the back seat. We found that with our Suburban, we needed to snap the straps around the headrest and the outer part of the seat next to the headrest since the area is so wide. The cargo liner fits nicely.

The INNX SUV waterproof cargo liner cover is easy to order on Amazon — you can find it here.

Beach Survival Kit For Summer Fun

This shop, Beach Survival Kit For Summer Fun, has been compensated by Collective Bias, INC. and The Coca-Cola Company, all opinions are mine alone. #BestSummerMemories #CollectiveBias

Find out the must haves for a beach survival kit perfect for great summer fun and sharing an ice cold Coca-Cola™ with friends!

Beach Survival Kit for Summer Fun

Share an Ice Cold Coke at CVS

Summer is here, and that means it’s time for some fun! We all have awesome memories of summertime adventures with family and friends. This year will be no different, so as the summer season gets underway, let’s share an ice cold Coca-Cola and make some memories.

Living in Huntington Beach, California, we love to hit the beach when the weather gets warm. Whether it is an all-day party or a spur of the moment trip with friends, we know exactly what to take, and CVS helps us put together the perfect Beach Survival Kit.

Making Memories

Over the years, we have enjoyed many events at the beach from family gatherings to birthday parties, to end of the season awards parties for baseball, soccer, and cross country. Sometimes, going to the beach is well planned and other times we go on the fly.

Some mornings, you wake up and the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and the weather is gorgeous, and you know it’s time to hit the beach. You call your friends, or they call you. Walking along the beach with your girlfriend’s is a great way to knock off some of those 10,000 steps we are supposed to get daily. Listening to the waves crashing on the sand, smelling the salty air, and feeling the warmth of the sunshine–delightful. But sometimes, we like to turn it into a family event and bring the kids along for some summer fun.

Regardless, if the beach outing is well planned or spur of the moment, we always stop at CVS to pick up some snacks and ice cold Coca-Cola. CVS is not just a pharmacy, you can find almost anything there for almost any occasion. Grab hot dog buns and condiments for roasting wieners over the fire pit. Or how about deli meats and bread, fruit snacks, trail mix, crackers, and more. You can even stock up or replenish the items for your beach survival kit. Forgot your beach towel, T-shirt, flip flops? No problem, you can find these and many other beachy items on the shelves now (boogie boards, beach chairs, water shoes, swimming goggles, the list goes on).

Let’s make a Beach Survival Kit:

Here is a list of things we need in our kit, but feel free to add additional items to yours.

  • Sunscreen
  • Lip Balm
  • Sunglasses
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Wet Wipes
  • Hair Bands
  • Flip Flops
  • Beach Towel
  • Hat
  • Zippered Bag
  • Coca-Cola

Share a Coke is back! This year, you can get the 20-ounce bottles featuring 1000+ first and LAST names on multiple Coca-Cola brands/packages such as Coca-Cola Classic, Coke Zero™, and Diet Coke®. It is the perfect ice cold refreshment for sharing the summer’s hottest moments. Save with your friends when you use your CVS ExtraCare card to receive the special pricing of 2 for $3. Don’t have an ExtraCare card? No sweat, it’s super easy to get one — sign-up online or in the store.

Go to CVS and pick up a quick couple of bottles of Ice Cold Coke to share with your friends, right away. Enjoy!
