You can find some cute stickers, tissue paper, bags, and cards from American Greetings too.

Let’s get crafting!

Halloween Candy Baskets

Supplies:

  • Free Printables – Download Here: Pre-Colored Shapes or Color-Your-Own Shapes
  • Cardstock
  • Glue Stick
  • Colored Pencils, Markers, Crayons, etc.
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Bone Folder (or another flat edge)
  • Paper Cutter (helpful, but optional)

Directions:

  1. Print your choice of pre-colored or color-your-own Halloween shapes.
  2. Cut out the shapes leaving a flat edge at the bottom, and an edging around the shape. These shapes will be the sides of your candy basket.

  1. Measure and mark cardstock. You will need two pieces cut for each basket — one for the basket (3-1/2 inches x 7 inches) and one for the handle (7 inches x 1 inch).
  2. Cut the cardstock for all the baskets you will be making.

  1. On the cut out Basket card stock, measure in 1/2 inch from the long edges on each side. Draw a line with a pencil, then score each pencil line with a bone folder or other flat-edge.
  2. Fold the scored long edges inward.

  1. Cut notches into the 1/2 inch folded edges to make it easier to fit the basket onto the shapes.
  2. Lay the notched basket cardstock flat and place glue on notches, both edges.
  3. Fold the notches to a right angle so the glued sides are on the outside of the basket.
  4. Attached glued notches to a pair of matching Halloween-themed shapes in a U-type shape, so there is an opening at the top. You will be able to move and adjust the notches to fit each shape as needed. Make sure that your shapes are turned the same way with the flat edge at the bottom.
  5. Let glue set.
  6. Dab glue on both ends of the handle, and attach to the top inside of the basket cardstock. Let glue set.

  1. Print a BOO Card for your basket.

Spiced Rum Truffles Miracle Pill – Inspired by The Princess Bride

You are going to love this candy recipe inspired by The Princess Bride – Spiced Rum Truffles Miracle Pill. See the how-to video tutorial. #MovieMonday #PrincessBrideRecipes

Spiced Rum Truffles Miracle Pill

A Recipe Inspired by The Princess Bride Movie

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so that means it is time for a swashbuckling good romantic comedy — The Princess Bride. I’ve joined together with some wonderful bloggers to bring you recipes, DIY projects, crafts, and more all inspired by this hilarious feel good movie. You will find things that are great for kids and adults, whether it is a special date night for two or a full blown party. Enjoy!

When Inigo Montoya and Fezzik find Westley dead in the Pit of Dispair, they take him to see Miracle Max (played by Billy Crystal) looking for nothing other than, well, a miracle. Miracle Max tells them that he needs to know what Westley has to live for.

Inigo Montoya: He’s dead. He can’t talk.

Miracle Max: Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive.

So, Miracle Max uses a fireplace bellow to push air into Westely to find out his reason for living — true love.

Miracle Max: Sonny, true love is the greatest thing in the world – except for a nice MLT – mutton, lettuce, and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomatoes are ripe. [smacks his lips]

Miracle Max: They’re so perky, I love that.

Miracle Max and his wife, Valerie, proceed in making a Miracle Pill that will restore Westley’s life. And that is the inspiration for this yummy recipe!

Valerie: The chocolate coating makes it go down easier, but you have to wait fifteen minutes for full potency, and he shouldn’t go in swimming after for at least–

Miracle Max: An hour–

Valerie: Yeah, an hour–

Miracle Max: A good hour.

Kitty Cakes – A Birthday Treat For Jinx And Josie

Our precious and adorable kitties, Jinx and Josie, recently turned one-year-old! It was definitely a time to celebrate — kitty cat style with Kitty Cakes.

Celebrate in Kitty Style With Kitty Cakes!

Now obviously, you can’t serve up cake and ice cream for your cat. But here is a pet and vet approved way to offer up something festive for the special day.

Our cats eat dry cat food on a regular basis, so any time they get a little wet food, it’s a treat. We save these times for after a vet visit, a bath, or some other thing they have to do, but don’t particularly enjoy.

These Kitty Cakes are really very simple. Just use a can of wet cat food (paté style) and some dry cat food pieces.

I turned the canned paté over onto a plate (instead of their usual food dish). Then, I added bits of the dry cat food around the edge to decorate. Since you can’t have a birthday candle, I piled some of the dry food in the center of the “cake” for added decoration.

Jinx and Josie LOVED their Kitty Cakes! Jinx, being the monster huge cat that he is, ate almost all of his kitty cake in one sitting, but sweet little Josie girl nibbled at hers for several days. We just placed the leftovers (including plate) into a zippered plastic bag and stuck it in the refrigerator.

Josie – I savored every morsel. It was such a tasty treat.

Jinx – Do birthdays only come around once a year? Really???

We just know your cat is going to love Kitty Cakes!

Easter Jelly Bean Prayer Poem

Easter is a joyous celebration for Christians around the world, and in this happy remembrance I wanted to share a special little treat with you today, the Easter Jelly Bean Prayer Poem.

Easter Jelly Bean Prayer Poem

An Easy DIY Sweet Treat

This  DIY project is perfect for handing out a special little Easter treat. Think, school treats, party favors, and more, plus it is super easy. You just need to gather a few things and devote a minimal amount of time.

Here’s what you need:

  • Container (bag, box, or jar)
  • Jelly Beans
  • Printable Poem
  • Paper and / or Cardstock
  • Glue Stick
  • Ribbon or Stapler

This is how you put them together:

You can use bags, jars, or even cute boxes for these treats.

Cutting and Trimming the Paper and Cardstock:

  • Print off your Easter Jelly Bean Prayer Poem printable
  • Cut out the poem (I used decorative scissors).
  • Using a paper cutter, cut the cardstock in half vertically.
  • Take each vertical piece, and cut in half horizontially. (This will be the size you use for bags).
  • If making tags for jars or boxes, you can cut each piece in half again.

For Bags:

  • Trim cardstock with decorative scissors (if desired). Make sure the cardstock is longer than the poem so you have room to fold it to fit over the bag.
  • Glue the poem to the cardstock (again, leaving blank space at the top of the cardstock).
  • Fill bag with jelly beans (be sure all colors mentioned in the poem are present).
  • Fold the top of the cardstock to fit over bag.
  • Staple  cardstock to the bag.

For Jars or Boxes:

  • Trim the cardstock with decorative scissors (if desired).
  • Glue the poem to the cardstock.
  • Punch a hole in the corner of the tag.
  • Run ribbons through the hole.
  • Fill the jar or box with jelly beans (be sure all colors mentioned in the poem are present).
  • Tie the tag to the box or jar.

Marshmallow Pops – Recipe For A Sweet Treat

Who doesn’t love spoiling the special people in our lives? Well, I have a quick and easy recipe that puts a little pizzazz and pop in a sweet treat. Everyone will love these Marshmallow Pops.

Marshmallow Pops

A Sweet Treat

If you are looking for something super simple to give as a Valentine treat, this Marshmallow Pops Recipe is for you. It would be fantastic for kids to share at school, as a party treat bag, or even as a cute dessert platter. Plus, they can be decorated for anytime of year, not just for Valentine’s Day.

Honestly, you can make a bunch of these marshmallow pops in 15-minutes! I was pleasantly surprised, and it takes very little by way of ingredients too.

Here’s What You Need:

Your choice of dipping mediums. I used Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, White Chocolate Chips, and Caramel Bits (If using caramel, you’ll want a splash of milk). Marshmallows, and Lollipop Sticks. Optional Decorating Sugars–I had pink and red. You could also use sprinkles, jimmies, nuts, crushed candies, etc.

How-to Make the Pops:

Pour chips or caramels into separate bowls. Heat the chocolate chips for one minute in the microwave, and then, for additional 30 seconds at a time until thoroughly melted. The caramel bits melt faster, so check them at 30 seconds, and then, go 15 seconds at a time.

Take a lollipop stick and dip the pointed end (if there is a pointed end) into the melted chocolate of choice. Push the covered stick down into (almost all the way through) the marshmallow. Place sticks in all of your marshmallows.

Dip your marshmallow pops!

I did a couple different types of dipping with my marshmallows:

  • Caramel Chocolate Double Dip
  • Chocolate Dipped and Decorated

I made a dozen marshmallows, 3 of each: caramel with white chocolate, caramel with semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate decorated, and semi-sweet chocolate decorated.

Starting with the caramel marshmallows, I dipped them all in the caramel, and set them aside to dry a little, Then, I worked on the decorated marshmallows–dipping them in the chocolate of choice and immediately sprinkling them with the Colored Sugars. Once those are finished, go back to the caramel marshmallows and dip them in the chocolate of choice.

You are finished. It’s as easy as that. You can eat them right away, or set them in the refrigerator for a few minutes to allow the chocolate to harden up a bit.

Serve these cute marshmallow pops on a plate, or package them in a cellophane bag to hand out as a special treat.

Skittles Ice Cream Sandwiches

Skittles Ice Cream Sandwiches

You Won’t Believe How Easy These Tasty Treats Are!

In my Game Day Party post, I included these amazing little frozen snacks. But, I wanted to share with you just how easy they are to make. You will be shocked! I know I was. I do have to confess, these Skittles Ice Cream Sandwiches had a slightly different beginning…

My original ideas was to let the ice cream sandwiches thaw just a little and push skittles onto the ice cream sides (creating a rainbow of polka-dots), and then, re-freeze them. This did not work. The whole Skittles were too heavy for the slightly melted ice cream, and they would not stay in place. What a mess I had! Then, Rory told me of something she had seen while cruising Pinterest that got her attention. I wish I had the PIN to link to, because they deserve some credit.

UPDATE: Rory found the PIN. It’s for a Skittles Poke Cake–click here.

So, get out your Magic Bullet, Ninja, or whatever food processor you have, and let’s get busy!

Skittles Ice Cream Sandwich Recipe

This recipe has only TWO INGREDIENTS:

  • Ice Cream Sandwiches
  • Skittles

Here’s what you do:

  • Line a baking dish with Wax Paper
  • Keep your Ice Cream Sandwiches in the Freezer. Work with them from there, one at a time

  • Take a small handful of Skittles and put them in your processor.

  • Pulse it a few times until you have Skittles Powder with some tiny chunks left in it. You will be surprised how fast this goes!
  • Pour the Skittles powder into a container with an air-tight lid
  • Repeat and Make enough Skittles powder to coat the edges of your ice cream sandwiches

  • Put some of the Skittles powder onto a small plate
  • Take your first Ice Cream Sandwich out of the freezer, and unwrap it. I cut my sandwiches in half to have smaller snack-size treats.

  • Tap the ice cream edges in the Skittles powder until all sides are covered

  • Place Skittles crusted sandwich in the wax paper lined dish and put into freezer
  • Repeat these steps until all of your Skittles Ice Cream Sandwiches are made
  • Once finished, cover the dish with Plastic Wrap

And here is what you end up with…

See how they look on your Game Day table?
