Halloween Decor Ideas – Spooky Elegance

Decorate your home in spooky elegance. Find easy Halloween decor ideas to create a ghoulishly delightful atmosphere. #HalloweenDecor #Halloween

Hello, friends, welcome to our home. I’d love to take you on a little home tour of our Halloween decor and all its spooky elegance. I hope you will be enchanted and beguiled and find inspiration.

Halloween Decor Ideas

Spooky Elegance and Ghoulish Delight

Our fireplace mantel is so fun to decorate since we did our DIY Mantel Makeover. It was an easy home improvement project for under $50! This year’s mantel is a mix of  Halloween and autumn decor. I love combining the holiday and season as it makes for such an elegant feel, and bonus, I’ve got a start on my decorating for Thanksgiving once I remove the Halloween items.

Halloween Fireplace Mantel in detail…

A garland of fall leaves entwined with a strand of mini white twinkle lights lay along the mantel with miniature pumpkins placed atop black candlesticks. The black and deep purple wreath has fall leaves tucked inside to give the wreath some pop. Halloween tinsel garlands hang behind the wreath and fall across the mantel to the sides. And. black gauze lends a spooky touch draped across the front of the mantel.

Our glittery black cat hisses next to the colorful postcard of the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow chasing Ichabod Crane and the spider candelabra with our DIY Halloween Candles.

Candy Corn is a favorite for easy Halloween decor. You will see I have used it in several places. I have my frame that I swap out seasonal/holiday printables. This printable is a Halloween Quote.

When Black Cats prowl and Pumpkins gleam, may Luck be yours on Halloween.  ~ Author unknown

The awesome black cat postcard is the famous Tournée du Chat Noir from Paris. Rory sent this to us from her study abroad trip to France this summer — perfect for my Halloween mantel.

Halloween Decor around the house…

Oh, I am in love with our latest project. I really like the versatility of vinyl art, but unfortunately, the space by my front door where I want to use it most has too much texture on the wall to allow the vinyl to adhere well. So, Luke and I put together a DIY Float Frame to make my dreams come true. This idea is even better than just simply placing the vinyl art on the wall — it provides the opportunity to add dimension and layers. I am excited to change this float frame up for the seasons.

My black lanterns with battery operated wax candles are perfect with candy corn. And a few little pumpkins add a nice touch.

A simple ribbon thread with glittery Halloween shapes decorates a plain lampshade.

Little mini pumpkins adorn the end table with the adorable placard signifying The Black Cat Pub in England — another of the treasures brought home from Rory’s summer trip to England. She couldn’t resist since we have two black cats of our own, Jinx and Josie.

A string of purple lights with black gauze and my Happy Halloween sign with an orange chiffon ribbon adorn my hutch with spooky style.

And, my favorite Halloween pillow.

Never Laugh as the Hearse drives by… for you may be the next to die.

I actually carved a pumpkin with this scene a few years ago. I love how it turned out, what do you think?

Thanksgiving Tablescape Simple Elegance

At the busy holiday season, it’s nice to have some simple elegance. I’m sharing how to put together a gorgeous and easy Thanksgiving tablescape with the help of Oriental Trading Company who provided some of the items for my table decor. AD #ThanksgivingTablescape

Thanksgiving Tablescape Simple Elegance

Helping to make the busy holidays easy and beautiful

There is no escape. You can’t turn back now. The holidays are upon us. So, let Oriental Trading help you make this busy season simple and elegant, fun and easy, or whatever sparks your fancy. There is something for every decor style, craft idea, or DIY project.

This year, my Thanksgiving tablescape style is simple elegance with a rustic touch. Autumn is such a lovely season full of fall colors, delicious flavors, cozy moments, and family memories. Let’s celebrate!

The first thing I did was gather my supplies:

  • Ceramic White Pumpkin
  • 1 – Wood Large Round Centerpiece (wood slice)
  • 1 – Wood Medium Round Centerpiece (wood slice)
  • Silk Fall Leaves
  • Fall Burlap Pumpkins
  • 2 – Battery-Operated Round Flameless Candles
  • Raffia Ribbon
  • Tape

Prep the Candles:

Candles

  1. Lay individual leaves in a line, right side up. Make the line of leaves long enough to go around the candle.
  2. Place a strip of Tape across the line of leaves to hold them in position.
  3. Wrap the leaves around the candle and secure with an additional piece of tape.
  4. Tie Raffia Ribbon around the leaves. I used two pieces of raffia ribbon for each candle.
  5. Carefully remove the tape.

Building the centerpiece:

  1. Stack the two Wood Slices (large and medium) in the center of the table. I turned mine so they didn’t lay exactly the same.
  2. Then tuck some of the Fall Leaves under the edges of the wood slices. Add extra leaves to spill out across the table as desired.
  3. Place the Burlap Pumpkins around the wood slices.
  4. The showcase of my centerpiece is the gorgeous Ceramic White Pumpkin. It has a white glaze and a little gold detailing to make this pumpkin absolutely stunning. Place it on the wood slices.
  5. Set the Candles on opposite sides of the centerpiece.

Tie your place settings in with your centerpiece:

Napkins

  1. Fold napkins however you wish.
  2. Lay a couple of leaves on the napkin.
  3. Tie with raffia ribbon.

Water Goblets or Wine Glasses

  1. Tie raffia ribbon to the glass stem.

So, what do you think of my Thanksgiving tablescape? It’s simple and elegant, right? And it certainly was quick and easy to create.

Rustic Woodwork Decor – How To Make Your Own

Bring a little texture and nature to you decorating style and learn how to make your own Rustic Woodwork Decor. A welcoming and cozy way to decorate and DIY.

How To Make Your Rustic Woodwork Decor

Bring natural textures to your decor style

Home decor is already a huge feature of our homes. Both regarding expense and the amount of time spent thinking about how o decorate the space. You design and redesign the layout in your head a dozen times over. Couple that with the countless hours spent wandering through stores to find the perfect item pictured in your mind and it truly is a process to create your perfect home.

However, what if there was a means to add further customization to your home and lower your budget? And get the further benefit of learning a new skill? Well, such a path does exist. Luckily, woodwork is an easy way to transfer your style, needs, and wants into a creation that perfectly fits your home.

A little bit of rustic decor

For those who have missed out on the design trends, rustic decor can be described as a decorating style with an emphasis on nature and other natural elements. These elements are all inspired by textures that can be found outdoors in nature. Think beach wood benches and luxurious faux-fur throws. The style further relies on natural colors that are typically earthy in tone.

If you are worried about how to achieve such a look in the middle of suburbia, one of the easiest ways is to incorporate ‘raw’ elements. These can be unfinished pieces of wood, a river-washed pebble mat, coral you collected on your last trip to the beach. The more unfinished and closer to its natural state the better the finished product will look.

DIY ideas

An emphasis on natural elements is required to achieve the rustic decor look. Wood especially is a great place to start. As always, when embarking on any project involving dangerous tools or supplies, it is important to be completely aware of the directions. Get the job done and practice good safety habits, such as wearing protective gear.

A good place to start with your interior is to fashion a rustic headboard out of pallets and other wood. The great thing is you can choose to use recycled pieces such as old wood from barns or leftover pieces from previous projects to add to the rustic charm of the piece.

A further idea is pallet shelves, or possibly a pallet bench and to ensure your best friend (your dog) doesn’t feel left out. Maybe even check out how to make a dog bed with old pallets. Everything is possible when it comes to DIY. For the pallet shelves, once you have finished pulling all the nails out and then cutting off the end pieces – these are shelf one and two, along with the center pieces for shelf three.

You then have the option to go even further. You can proceed to stain the shelves, to achieve a more rustic look. A darker color is advised for a more authentic image, while for a look more suited to a coastal interior theme, you could use a lighter, sandy color to stain the wood. Finally, screw them into the wall, and then they are ready to go.

More Rustic Woodwork Decor

Should you be seeking more inspiration for where exactly to start with your rustic decor mission, perhaps a wooden pallet wine rack is the avenue to which you should check out. You will similarly make the wooden pallet shelf as to the way you make shelf 1 and 2 (or the end pallet shelves) in the example above. Then, you only drill holes into the shelf so that the wine glasses have a space to hang.

If you only want to beautify an already wooden piece of your home, such as a backyard fence, then feel free to go to town with fresh flowers stacked in a tin-can garden, or if you are really into entertaining, why not consider putting a back-yard barbeque station attached to your garden fence?

With so many ways to achieve a rustic decor look and DIY woodworking activities being one of the easier, more affordable ways to do it, the only question left to ask is which project are you going to undertake first? I know, the wooden pallet wine rack is extremely tempting.

Have you done any Rustic Woodwork Decor projects? I’d love to hear about them in the comments.

I want to thank Sarah for sharing these rustic woodwork decor DIY projects with us today. I cannot wait to give some of these ideas a try!

Tailgating or Homegating

This Fall With Coleman

Are you ready for football? We can’t wait to hit the Friday night lights when our alma mater plays. It’s such a fun time gathering around and tailgating with old friends and cheering on our favorite high school team.

We thought we’d give our new Coleman products a trial run with a preseason kick-off and a little homegating to get us in the mood. Walmart has an entire Coleman collection. You can find things in the store, but there is even more available online. You can have your Coleman products delivered to your home or pick them up in-store and SAVE!

SHOP THE COLEMAN COLLECTION!

Coleman 4-in-1 Mosaic Table

We ordered the Coleman 4-in-1 Mosaic Table and the Coleman Party Ball. It was easy to run through our local Walmart and pick these up. I could even text the store when I arrived, so they could get my packages ready for me. How easy is that? I love anything that saves me time.

We love the Coleman 4-in-1 Mosaic Table. It has a thoughtful and well-planned design. It is compact to carry and store, and all of its pieces snap inside the closed table. There is even a handle. The table consists of two tables that you can configure in a multitude of ways — two side tables, one square table, one long table. The table also features adjustable legs for differing heights and adjustable feet for stability, awesome. You could even make a two-level table for serving. Strong, sturdy, stable.

Watch this video on how easy the table is to set-up, tear-down, and configure.

Coleman Party Ball – Charcoal Grill

The Coleman Party Ball is a small charcoal grill that features foldable legs, lid latches, and a handle for transport. The grill has a removable charcoal tray for easy clean out of ashes. The lantern shaped draft holes are pretty cute. We easily fit four hamburgers on the grill, and we had to toast our buns in two batches. The Party Ball is great for on-the-go.

All in all, we had a fun time with our homegate. We had some great food and even laughed it up with some crazy antics. So, whether tailgating at the game with friends or homegating in the backyard with family, Coleman is there to help you enjoy the outdoors!

Get ready for your Fall tailgate with the Coleman Collection and get your discount when you pick-up in the store.

Happy Tailgating!
